Our Provision

Little Scholars Nursery is a unique, one of a kind provision. The building is purpose built and each room and piece of equipment has been carefully chosen and designed to ensure all children have the opportunity to develop and thrive in our care. The ergonomic design means children can engage in a clean, safe and fluid environment. Space is plentiful with 2 outdoor areas, 5 childcare rooms, a sensory room and circulation play space. The wellbeing of children is paramount, play is purposeful and the children thrive within the child-centered provision.

Babies

• Our baby rooms are lovely bright areas, furnished and equipped to a high standard to provide comfort and stimulation for our youngest children. Both rooms have direct access to a separate, secure outdoor area where, amongst endless other play opportunities, children can dig in the large sand pit, explore the sensory raised flower beds or relax under a shaded canopy with a story or quality 1:1 time with their key worker.

• Each child's individual needs and routines are respected, with the staff working closely with parents to ensure that wherever possible, there is continuity of routine between home and nursery.

• Activities are appropriate for the age and stage of development of the children and include a wide range of sensory experiences. Within the baby rooms, activities typically include heuristic play, music (banging & bashing as well as songs, rhymes and listening), messy play, ball pool play, paint activities, baby book time and loads of cuddles.

Toddlers

• Our toddler rooms provide a lively and stimulating environment, planned to offer the activities that children need and enjoy as they become increasingly mobile and independent.

• The emphasis here is very much on active fun, where children continue to explore the world around them and develop increasingly their communication skills.

• Our toddlers enjoy activities such as jigsaws, creative play, dressing up and role play, ride on toys and tricycles, climbing and outdoors play, early mark making, construction, story time, music, sand play and water play and many more.

• With direct access to the outdoor provision, toddlers can be found using this area extensively to support their developing physical and intellectual skills as they explore the environment around them.

Pre-school

• Our pre-school rooms are designed to provide our older children with a wealth of experiences and opportunities that promote the 5 Developmental Pathways in the Curriculum for Non-Maintained settings, ensuring children engage in fun, challenging and authentic experiences.

• Children in the pre-school are encouraged to develop independence as they enjoy the wide variety of activities available in both the indoor and outdoor provision, with direct access to the extensive outdoor environment.

• Within this action packed area, the children are able to participate in activities such as story time, construction, painting and model making, sand and water play, small world toys, sorting and counting games, music making and singing, outside play including wheeled toys, climbing, running and jumping. The list goes on and on.

• Our talented pre-school staff receive extensive training to enable them to meet the developmental needs of each individual child.
